drinking the green kool-aid

Green kool-aid is how I like to describe the cult-like experience of raw food, or really any crazy diet. People always seem half-fascinated and half-horrified by my commitment to cleaning my colon, so I thought I'd share my experiences in excruciating detail. As with any train wreck, it's hard to look away. Nonetheless, I've managed to pick up some comrades along the way, as a result of my dear friends' curiosity and solidarity. Others interested in drinking the green kool-aid, holla.

Rawy Days and Mondays.

Yeah, I'm a little tired of raw. I did pretty well over the weekend, but I had a weak moment and ate a little soup. To be fair, though it was cooked, it was really just pureed veggies. Weekends are the hardest for me and any kind of social gathering is pretty difficult too.

I'm not really craving sweets. If you know me at all, this is shocking as I am a sugar addict. At the same time, maybe it's not. I have been eating 2-3 bananas a day (in smoothies or as a snack with almond butter) and very much of raw food seems sweet to me, even when I'm not eating fruit. I want something more savory. Or maybe just some bread and cheese.

Highlights over the last few days include:

-Green tacos? Collard greens wrapped around avocado, mango, cilantro and sprouts.
-Raw sushi. Marinated tempeh rolled in nori with avocado, carrot, zucchini, peppers and a little carrot ginger dressing.

Someone did comment that I was "sunny" and "glowing" over the weekend. Honestly, I think my skin kinda looks like shit, but who knows.
