drinking the green kool-aid

Green kool-aid is how I like to describe the cult-like experience of raw food, or really any crazy diet. People always seem half-fascinated and half-horrified by my commitment to cleaning my colon, so I thought I'd share my experiences in excruciating detail. As with any train wreck, it's hard to look away. Nonetheless, I've managed to pick up some comrades along the way, as a result of my dear friends' curiosity and solidarity. Others interested in drinking the green kool-aid, holla.

getting better

so yesterday wasn't so bad, though i cheated again (but just a bit! i was at a party, so it was hard. i had literally, 2 corn chips, and like a square inch of german chocolate cake. birthday party, cant not eat cake). i did pass up dinner at one of the best sushi places in the city, but--it would have been torturous, watching everyone else have excellent fish and stuff, me, salad. ok so since it's been weekend, i've been cooking a bunch. made chili, with this great turkey from the farmer's market (Same one where i bought the awesome bread), made hummus (bland, but not bad) and today i made pasta sauce with the tomatoes i stewed for the chili, plus _tons_ of basil from the garden. though it would have been better with some parm, definitely.

this morning i also made an egg white scramble, with tomato, green pepper, green onions, and some yukon golds. i do feel wasteful not eating the egg yolks, but i think i've resolved to accept that i was seriously lacking protein.

at least the cravings for salt have gone away. though i wouldn't mind being able to have proper milk in my coffee (i broke down and bought non dairy-non-soy creamer, which is gross) and cereal in the morning. i really miss cereal.
